Partner & Realtor®
I graduated from the University of Louisville with a bachelor’s degree in Marketing and Communications. I started my career in real estate in 2008 when I began working at a local property management and remodeling company.
During this time, I personally bought a home as a short sale and ripped it down to the studs. I moved walls, added a second-floor sun room and deck, new plumbing, new electrical, new windows and doors, new siding and completely updated the interior. This is experience is what truly set me on the path of building and remodeling. I loved the process of creating something new and beautiful.
I continued to work for the property management group until I was presented with an opportunity to work for a Master Builder. As a project manager I worked on remodels and new construction projects and honed my design ability and the language of luxury building and remodeling. The custom-built homes ranged in price from $400,000 to $2.2 million dollars and the remodels ranged from $30,000 to $1 million dollars.
I personally managed all the remodel jobs this included the initial meeting of explaining how the process worked. I would do a ball park figure on the cost of the job for them and if they were comfortable with the ballpark number, we would move to a confidentiality agreement, drawings and pricing. This method ensured that we established the price up front barring any unforeseen items and change orders.
The pricing was established by having a “vendor” day and having everyone get their eyes on the project, this is especially important in remodeling. It also gave a chance for the clients to ask questions and meet the people who would be doing work in their home and establish trust. With the information gained from the sub-contractors and the with their bids I could analyze what things were forgotten or miscalculated. This practice is something we continue to do today at Flame Lily Construction.
Other notable projects included filming an episode of “Fix It or Finish It” with Antonio Sabato Jr. as the host. Both Mary and I played a significant role in procuring materials and labor donated to create the dream backyard for the show participants. During filming, Mary directed multiple crews to finish the 24-hour project. I was featured on camera explaining the process and design philosophy. This experience was the start of Mary and me thinking about how we could bring some of the luxury detail of the building process to the average person. Flame Lily Construction was born, and this has become our mission.
In addition to home building and remodeling I have become a licensed Real Estate Agent. Obtaining this license allows me to offer the best possible advice to our clients when it comes to matters of their home.
